Madonna of Visegrád (around 1480)

Tommaso Fiamberti, a sculptor from Florence, is regarded as the Master of Marble Madonnas. He probably arrived in Hungary via the court of the Duke of Urbino. The relief of red marble was perhaps intended for the tympanum of the portal of the Chapel. The main figures are standing parallel to one another, indicating an intimate relationship between them which, in its turn, creates a harmonic composition.
