Master MZ (active 1500-1510): Fortune

c. 1505
Black ink on paper, 259 x 165 mm
Germanishes Nationalmuseum, Nuremberg

The slighly right- and forward-leaning head and S-curved pose of Fortune resembles that of Mary of the Visitation. There are further resemblances between the clothes of the two women and also between the long veils. Fortune's veil, however, might refer to her engagement with Christ.
