TAPESTRY MAKERS
(first half 20th century)

Women at Kalotaszeg

1910s
Tapestry, 164 x 165 cm
Private collection

The exhaustive gathering of folk material influenced the activities of the Gödöllő weaving workshop, which produced two types of carpet. One employed geometrical forms drawn from folk-art, the other was the so-called "story rug". This is an interesting example of the first type.

The tapestry was executed after the design of Aladár Körösfői-Kriesch (1863-1920).
