Altarpiece of Nativity

This altarpiece is the most significant among the 11 surviving winged altarpieces of the church. The central part contains a large (182 x 136 cm) high-relief representing the Nativity, surrounded by saints. On the predella there are three other reliefs showing scenes related to the Nativity. On the open wings four, on the closed wings eight other painted panels depict the life of Christ. The paintings were executed after the engravings of the German painter Martin Schongauer. The size of the paintings is 116 x 118 cm each.
