Two Painted Wings of an Altarpiece (closed)

c. 1490
Tempera on wood, 157,5 x 53 cm (panels: 72 x 53 cm each)
Hungarian National Gallery, Budapest

The two wings of an altarpiece dedicated to Mary originate from the St Nicholas Parish Church at Nagytótlak. The outer side of the wings, which can be seen when the altarpiece is closed, represents the Hungarian Saint Kings (Stephen and Leslie), St Emery and St Nicholas of Myra. The inner side of the wings, which can be seen when the altarpiece is open, depicts scenes from the life of mary.
