Madonna with Christ Child and Saints

1450-60
Tempera on wood, 126,5 x 90 cm
Slovak National Gallery, Bratislava

This is the central panel of the Mary Altar from Nagyõr. The Madonna with Christ Child stands on the dragon between St Catherine of Alexandria and St Barbara the Martyr. The painter was inspired by the Master of Mateóc, however, he was closer to Late Gothic principles. The brocade pattern of the background is of Late Gothic type.
