UNKNOWN GOTHIC MASTER, sculptor
(14th century)

Funeral Monument of Abbot Sigfrid

1365
Red marble, 233,5 x 105,5 cm
Benedictine Abbey Church, Pannonhalma

The number of tombstones from the 14th century with figural decoration is rather low in Hungary. Among them the most significant is the Sigfrid tombstone. The worn surface indicates that formerly it was sunk into the floor. Its style and level of execution is exceptional in Hungary.
