UNKNOWN GOTHIC MASTER, sculptor
(14th century)

Madonna and Child

c. 1340
Painted, siver-plated wood, height: 80 cm
Hungarian National Gallery, Budapest

The statue was strongly transformed and mutilated in the Baroque period (in 1755). Stylistically it follows the French Madonna representations in the first half of the 14th century.
