Remnants of frescoes in the apse

The damaged and fragmented frescoes on the vault of the apse were executed between 1200 and 1250. The Christ Enthroned in the "mandorla" held by two angels on the upper part of the triumphal arch of the apse was made at the end of the 13th century. The bust figures below Christ in the middle and on the southern side are probably from the end of the 14th century.

The restoration of the paintings was started int 1940-42 and continued in 1950-52.
