He was a pupil of Martin van Meytens. He received orders to paint portraits at the military academy in Wiener Neustadt: the resulting pictures were portraits of Hapsburg princes and archdukes. He painted portraits in Nagyszeben on the order of Baron Bruckenthal. He worked in various parts of Austria and painted impressive portraits of Josef II. He visited Italy.
