UNDI, Mariska

Painter and industrial design artist. After graduating from the School of Design as an art teacher, she continued her studies in London in 1903 and in Paris in 1908. After her return from abroad she participated in the exhibitions of the Society of Applied Art with several design works. In 1913 she was appointed teacher of the School of Industrial Drawing in Budapest. As she was a member of the artist's colony of Gödöllő for several years, she decorated the White Cross Hospital in Tűzoltó Street with frescos in 1908. In 1909 to 1910 she painted 14 wall paintings in the Népszálló (People's Hostel). In 1916 a glass painting of hers made for a house in Dorottya Street was awarded a 1000 Crown prize by the Art Lovers' Association. For her pastel drawing titled 'The Portrait of an Artist Girl' she received a prize of 500 Crowns in the National Salon in 1911. Her pastel drawing called 'The Portrait of Carla' (1919) is kept in the Museum of Fine Arts.
