SPÁNYI, Béla
(1832, Pest - 1914, Budapest)



Spányi learnt to paint in Szolnok, Vienna and Munich. He returned to Szolnok in 1878. He was the master of delicate landscapes. Spányi, who lived in Paris and Munich, liked spending his time in Bodajk very much. His early pictures can be characterized with details. He painted five large scale landscapes for the restaurant of the Parliament in Budapest. Major works: "At the End of the Village", "Road at Night", and "Calvary in Bodajk".
