Réti was one of the founders, teachers and chroniclers of the Nagybánya art school, and he had a decisive role in determining the esthetics of the school. In "Landscape at Nagybánya", he depicts a rolling country with indentations and a country stretching to the side of the picture. Greyish-white clouds are drifting in the sky which can hardly be seen. The leaves of the trees in the bottom left-hand corner are fierce green while houses with white walls and red roofs can be seen between light green trees and bushes. He applies shades of greens in the landscape which is characterized with pure airy colours, and the orgy of colours is enhanced by red, the complementary colour of green.
