PONGRÁCZ, Szigfrid
(1872, Brno - 1929, Budapest)

Sculptor. Between 1890 and 1896 he studied under the supervision of Hellmer and Zumbusch in Vienna. Together with Ede Margó he made the Kossuth statues for the towns of Arad (now in Romania) and Debrecen. In addition to statues used for decorating buildings he modelled sepulchral monuments and independent compositions as well. The Hungarian National Gallery holds six of his sculptures (Chopin, Elegy, Salome etc.).
