PÁLLIK, Béla
(1845, Nagymihály -1908, Budapest)

Painter. He learnt to paint in Vienna and Munich, but he also sang operas in Germany and Tata, Hungary. He painted portraits, e.g. of Counts Elemér Batthány and István Károlyi, and became a popular painter with pictures on sheep. They were appreciated as the greatest examples of realism and Pállik was awarded with orders. Major works: "Sheep Head", "Midday", "Hunger", "Sheep in Fold", "Ram", "Atmosphere in May", "Flock of Sheep Resting", "Cows on the Moor" and "Lake Velence".
