KÖVESHÁZI-KALMÁR, Elza
(1876, Wien - 1956, Budapest)



Sculptor and industrial artist. She learnt painting in Vienna and Munich, then in Paris from 1900 to 1902 and in Florence from 1902 to 1904. She had several exhibitions in Paris in the 1910s. She modelled mainly statuettes, ceramic figures and plaquettes. Her art was influenced by cubism and expressionism. She produced several tombs (e.g.that of Margit Kaffka). Kövesházi Kalmár was commissioned to model Imre Madách for the Pantheon in Dóm tér, Szeged.
