Koszta settled down in Szentes where he soon found the subject matter of "Corn Husking", which accompanied him all through his career. "Corn Huskers", a composition with three figures, is the most mature and richest in version. Monumental portrayals of everyday peasant jobs are not characteristic of genre pictures depicting actions. The structure of the composition is easy to follow: figures working are lit, the strong light is scanning corn stalks faded in the sun, the rhythmic movements of figures and heads. The midday sun casts a black shadow, the white blouses, red skirts and the blue skirts of men glimmer through. The white houses of the village on the narrow horizon in the distance are gleaming in the deep-blue sky. Dark shadows and flashing colours make one another more intensive. Koszta expressed his artistic message superbly with strong contrasts and dynamic brush strokes.
