Death and mortality, dear to the contemporary propensity for transcendental thinking, were recurring motifs of the Gödöllő masters, espcially Körösfői-Kriesch. His drawings entitled Man in Pursuit of Death and Death in Pursuit of Man express the haunting awareness of the constant presence of death.
