Works of Korniss from the late 1930s, which survived World War II, show the influence of Lajos Vajda. Houses in Szentendre ("Mill", 1935) and Szigetmonostor appear in their pictures but compositions also have much in common, for example objects are depcted in an overview and a side-view in the same plane and at the same time ("Still-Life with Cither", 1935). "Woman in Szentendre" comes from the first Szentendre period of Korniss, i.e. from the late 1930s. The pastel technique and the frontal and central arrangement of the head recall Vajda's icons. Colours, however, are delicate and soft, contours are blurred and the surface of the picture becomes mellow. The body is geometrical: it consists of grey and black triangles, and the skirt consists of light and dark blue triangles
