The statue is the central figure of the Kossuth Memorial. The symbolic side figures were executed by András Kocsis and Lajos Ungváry.

Lajos Kossuth (1801-1894) was a Hungarian statesman, the most important figure of the struggle for the liberation of Hungary in the 19th century.
