Goethe

Jenő Kerényi's Goethe is a homage to the genius of the poet and his search for total harmony. The beautifully depicted profile shows the great master who perfected his poetry from the romantic anguish of Werther to the Olympian peace of Classicism. Although the medal is relatively small it manages to produce an extremely monumental effect, revealing something of Kerényi's attempts in monumental sculpture.
