There was a competition in 1902 for designing a memorial to the great Hungarian poet, Mihály Vörösmarty. Ede Kallós and his partner, architect Géza Márkus was the winner ahead of 24 other competitors. Kallós's friend, the sculptor Ede Telcs also contributed to the final execution of the memorial.
