Béla Kádár, an ex-pupil of Munich and Paris, was influenced by Cézanne's art and German expressionism. In pictures of the late 1920s he arrived at a parody of expressionism. "Town with Bridge", a picture of the 1910s with light colours, whites rather than blues, green and red, belongs to his best works. Arches of bridges over the river painted from a bottom-view and their reflections on the water are based on semicircular arches typical of Franz Marc. The same dynamic forms recalling series of waves appear in the steep banks. As a result of semicircular motifs returning on themselves, the composition begins to move, houses on both sides of the river are rocking back and forth, as if they were crow's nest at the top of the ship's mast. Thus, walls and roofs perpendicular to them sink or rise making the view full of movement, restful and stylized.
