FÜGER, Friedrich Heinrich
(1751, Heilbronn - 1818, Leipzig)



Austrian painter, a fahionable portraitist and respected master of his period. As director of the Academy in Vienna he guarded the rigid system of Classicism against the new tendencies. He was the master of several Hungarian painters and he worked in Hungary, too. He executed portraits for the Haller family and altarpieces for Pannonhalma.
