FARKAS, István
(1887, Budapest - 1944-45, Auschwitz)

Model with Big Hands

1920
Oil on canvas, 93 x 77 cm
Deák Collection, Municipal Gallery, Székesfehérvár

Farkas shared the philosophy Kierkegaard and Kafka. His pictures express distress, tragedies of existence and man's loneliness. The picture "Model with Big Hands" based on naturalistic, black and light shades deserves attention. The dark beauty of the woman indicates inevitable destiny.
