Staircase, Buda Castle

Fadrusz was engaged twice in the decoration of the royal palace in Buda Castle. First in 1897 he carved from Carrara marble two Atlas statues standing opposite to each other at one of the ceremonial staircases of the palace. Later, in 1901-02 he executed four huge lions guarding a gate in pairs, one pair (with open mouth ready to bite) outside and the other pair inside.
