(1846, Nagyenyed - 1871, Marosvásárhely)



Painter. He studied at the Vienna Academy in 1866-68 and in Munich in 1869 when he won a grant with his picture "Gábor Bethlen with his Scientists" at a competition. His creativity generally lasted until sketches were made. He lived on portrait painting in Marosvásárhely in 1870. Not understood by his age and suffering from mental and financial problems, he took his own life. His art was appreciated decades after his death only. His major works: "The National Assembly in Ónod", "Portrait of György Bánffy", "Daughter of József Wittich", and "A Man with a Beard".
