Still-life (Banana, Oranges and Fishes)

c. 1910
Oil on canvas, 44 x 53 cm
Deák Collection, Municipal Gallery, Székesfehérvár

In the 1910s, Dezső Czigány painted still-lives like Róbert Berény or Dezső Orbán, members of the Eights. "Still-Life (with Bananas, Oranges and Fish)" lack the style which is limited to geometric forms. This is what characterizes his "Still-Life" or "Still-Life with Philodendron" painted around 1910. In "Still-Life (with Bananas, Oranges and Fish)" objects are not reduced to blocks, they are rather suggestive only. Few motifs, a white table-cloth and a composition with overview reflect Cézanne's art.
