CSORBA, Géza
(1892, Liptóújvár - 1974, Budapest)

Sculptor. At the Academy of Fine Arts he studied under Alajos Stróbl and Béla Radnai, but he was expelled in 1913 for his revolutionary views. His first exhibition was held about that time. The fact that Géza Csorba was a younger contemporary and close friend of the poet Endre Ady had a great impact on his art. The Ady statues are significant pieces of his oeuvre, and throughout his life he was preoccupied with sculptural representations of the poet. "Woman Sunbathing" was made in 1937 and is typical of his work. Critics consider his greatest artistic merit to be his moderate stylization.
