BORBEREKI-KOVÁCS, Zoltán
(1907, Rónaszék - 1992, Budapest)

 Painter and sculptor. He went to Rome on a scholarship. His pictures were influenced by Vilmos Aba-Novák who encouraged him to try his hand at statues. One of his major works is the "Navvy Memorial" in Szentes. He was awarded with the Grand Prix of the World Exhibition in Paris in 1937. He settled down in South Africa. His statues carved in special wood emphasized the beauty of the material. One of his works is in the collection of the Hungarian National Gallery.
