TELCS, Ede
(1872, Baja - 1948, Budapest)

Sculptor. He was a pupil of K. Zumbusch in Vienna. Initially, he portrayed typically Hungarian scenes, later he created ornamental sculptures (Music Academy) and memorials (those of Munkácsy and Barabás). Of his works, the "Kossuth Memorial" in Kecskemét, the "Dezső Szilágyi Memorial" in Telepes, the "Vörösmarty Statue" (sculpted together with Ede Kallós in 1908), "Ignác Alpár Statue" in Városliget, Budapest (1931), "St. Ladislaus" and "Charles III" (Millennium Memorial) are particularly remarkable.

He produced a number of plaquettes, too. "Marcsa", "Shy" and "Goliath" are in the possession of the Hungarian National Gallery.
