STUHLHOFF, Sebestyén
(c. 1723 - 1779, Tihany)



Joiner and wood-sculptor. As a Benedictine lay brother he was the maker of the rococo main and side-altars, the pulpit, the statues and woodwork of the choir section of the Tihany Abbey Church between 1753 and 1762. His style is characterised by vividly coloured decorative elements, fresh perception and sculptural figures conforming to folk taste.
