RICHTER, David the Elder
(1662, Stockholm - 1735, Vienna)

The Swedish painter worked as Court painter in Dresden, Berlin and Vienna after a study-tour in Rome. Judging from the large number of copper engravings reproducing his paintings it can be assumed that his surviving original paintings represent only a fraction of his oeuvre.
