The Sacrifice of Flowers

Munkácsy painted this picture during the last period of his life. He depicted a girl who died from the strong scent of lilies. The romantic theme and the theatrical, pathetic depiction is unusual in Munkácsy's oeuvre, although he always had an attraction for spectacular trappings.
