MARKÓ Károly the Younger
(1822, Pest - 1891, Moscow)

Landscape painter. As a student and follower of his father, Károly Markó (1791-1860) he painted mainly in Vienna. Although his artworks are sometimes mistaken for those of his father, he could never catch up with the artistic standard of his father's art. His classicist paintings were considered old-fashioned, both in terms of artistic representation and concept, even in his time. The Hungarian National Gallery has his works entitled 'Idyllic Landscape' and 'The Apennines'.
