HOLLÓ, Barnabás
(1865, Alsóhangony - 1917, Budapest)



Sculptor. He was a pupil of Alajos Stróbl at the School of Applied Arts. Mostly his realistic reliefs brought him fame ("Foundation of the Academy of Sciences" in the Building of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 1891, "Wesselényi Memorial Tablet" on the wall of the Franciscan Church in Budapest in 1892, and "Queen Elizabeth Pays Tribute to Ferenc Deák" in the building of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences). He created "Kossuth Memorials" for several towns in Hungary. His small genre and animal statues were particularly popular.
