HÖFEL, Johann Nepomuk
(1786, Pest - 1864, Vienna)

He studied at the Vienna Academy between 1804 and 1814, where he was awarded several Academic prizes. Later he returned to his native city, Pest, but also accepted commissions in Pozsony and other towns. He was a distinguished Academic painter, his style is therefore somewhat too formal and outdated, a mélange of Baroque and Neo-Classical elements.
