HEGYI, György

Stained-Glass Window Design

1948
Oil on paper, 170 x 100 cm
Private collection

Ibolya Ury and Ferenc Matits described Hegyi's art this way: "Although his panel paintings and drawings were made continually all through his life's art, he has become know mainly on the account of his mosaic works and most recently his stained glass windows. In his interpretation, mosaic art known solely as a monumental genre earlier, appears in a series of panel-sized mosaic pieces. He arranges the forms boldly in his stained glass windows. He often inserts various materials in his mosaic pictures. His murals, in which he strives for easy-to-understand symbolical art, convey his humanist conviction with great pretensions."
