GOLDMANN, György
(1904, Vecsés - 1945, Dachau)

Sculptor. He was a pupil of Zsigmond Kisfaludi Strobl at the Art School from 1924 to 1929, then he went to Paris. "Worker", a statue from 1929, reflected his first encounter with the workers' movement. He was one of the founders of the Group of Socialist Artists (1934). His works included small figurines for reproduction. In 1942 he was sentenced to life imprisonment and was deported to Dachau in November 1944 where he died.

His concise portrait statues ("Self Protrait", "Peasant Girl") and several full-figure works ("Worker", "Horthy's Policeman", "Woman Taking a Wash") reflect ideologic awareness and great artistic skills.
