GÁRDOS, Aladár
(1878, Budapest - 1944, Budapest)



Sculptor. He studied at the School of Applied Arts, then went to Munich and Paris. He received his first commission in 1903 to create the statue of "Béla Lukács". He was awarded the Rudics scholarship for "Homeless", a composition with several figures. The statue of "Lajos Kossuth" was erected in Sátoraljaújhely in 1911, and that of "Ferenc Deák" in Miskolc in 1912. His works were exhibited in the National Salon in 1923 and 1927, and in the Ernst Museum in 1929. He was killed in 1944.
